Alos de Balaguer - El Raco
A small crag in a beautiful location halfway between Alos de Balaguera and the Noguera Pallaresa dam. The crag faces south, which is too hot in summer, and in winter, the sun does not get high enough over the narrow valley to warm the rock. This leaves early spring and late autumn as the best months. The crag is broken in places, however it does have some good routes.
Depending where you are based, it may be easier to park at the Noguera dam and take the beautiful walk along the river to the crag. Alternatively from Alos de Balaguera drive west for a few hundred metres to the bridge over the river and just before this take the rough track along the river for about 3km to it's end, passing the Cal Cari crags and a parking spot with a fountain on the way. The track can be very muddy after rain. Be warned. From the parking at the end of the track follow a good path along the river, initially over a metal walkway, for about 15 minutes until there is a sign with a number 6 on it. Turn left off the main track here and descend on a vague path to the crag. The crag is not visible until you reach it.
