Spitzmeilen and Wissmilen from Flumserberg
A beautiful looking mountain, that is relatively easy to reach. The last 100m are steep and climbed on foot, the difficulty depending on the conditions. There is a couloir on the east side to climb with a chain in it. If this is visible then it might be possible without ice axe and crampons. If it is't then these are recommended. It is about grade III. If the conditions are not suitable, Spitzmeilen has a sister peak, Wissmilen that is very easy to reach.
From Flums head up to Flumserberg, a very popular ski resort, being one of the nearest to Zurich.From here either take the ski lifts to Maschgenkamm, or walk up the track, which takes you just below Machgenkamm. The SAC Spitmeilen hütte is a convenient stopping point for a multi day tour, or even if you just fancy an easy day and a night away.
Either take the ski lifts to Maschgenkamm, and traverse away from the pistes to reach the track that comes up from Flumserberg, or walk directly up this track. The track crosses the head of the valley at Fursch (1792m). Head South East more steeply to reach the ridge that will take you all the way to Wissmeilen. At point 2069m it is possible to branch off left (East) to reach Spitzmeilen hut. However continue up the ridge until just below Wissmilen, then traverse left across steep ground and then with some Spitzkehren reach the col between Spitzmilen and Wissmilen. If the conditions are suitable leave the skis here to climb the last 100m to the top of Spitzmeilen. Traverse the South side on foot until a couloir is reached on the East side. Climb this with the help of some chains, if they are visible, to reach the summit. Descend to the ski depot, and it is a few minutes to the summit of Wissmilen. return by the same route, or make a detour via Spitzmeilenhütte for some refreshments.
