Jamspitze Rundtour

There are many possibilties on this tour. All commence by heading to the Ochsenscharte. Climb from the hut in a south easterly direction, the route is a constant gradient nearly all the way to the col. 1) For Dreiländerspitze (3197m) head south to the ski depot under the East ridge. Climb the ridge, most difficult at the end (II). The ridge is narrow and exposed, the summit small. Descend by the same route back to the Ochsenscharte. If you descend back to the hut from here, the total time is 4.5 hours. 2) For the shorter tour cross the Ochsenscharte to the East side. Head north down the glacier until it is possible to go west and up to the Tiroler Scharte (2935m). At first keep as close as possible to the Ochsenkopf South ridge, avoiding the crevasses. On foot continue past the rib P.2849, until it is possible to climb diagonally north west, then west (again keeping close to the rocks) to the Tiroler Scharte (2935m) . 3) To climb Ochsenkopf (3057m) go from the Tiroler Scharte on foot over rocky ground to the North ridge. The ridge is 120m of scrambling. Descend by the same route. 4) The ski back to the Wiesbadener Hütte is down the Tiroler glacier, WNW, keeping to the North of the Vermuntkopf into a small valley, to arrive at the hut. 5) To climb Vorder Jamspitze (3178m) und Hinter Jamspitze (3156m), after crossing the Ochsenscharte, head slightly south along the Jamalfern and then south east to reach the foot of the south ridge of Vorder Jamspitze. Cross through the rocks on foot to a flat ramp that leads to the upper part of the Jamjoch glacier (3075m). Go North to the ski depot beneath the southern ridge, where 220m scrambling leads to the summit: Return by the same route and now head north to climb the relatively easy north ridge of Hinter Jamspitze. Return to Ochsenscharte by the same route, or continue east to Urezzas Joch, ski north down the glacier to about 2650m, and then turn west to Felsriegel P.2849 and continue up to the Tyrolean Scharte (avalanche risk).
