Pazolastock
A nice tour, easily accessible from Oberalppass. From the summit, if conditions allow it is possible to ski back to Andermatt, or continue to reach the SAC Maighels hütte, from where more tours are possible. Maighelshütte is one of the sources of the Rhine, where the river starts its 1200km journey to the North Sea at Rotterdam. On its way it will pass through Switerland, Germany, France and Holland. The Rhine is the second longest river in Europe after the Danube.
Take the train from Andermatt to the ski station of Oberalppass. This is part of the glacier express and a lovely ride in its own right.
From Oberalppass, head south until a small stream is reached, follow this going slightly west, until it is possible to branch off south again and reach the ridge that leads towards the summit of Pazolstock. Follow this to where it steepens, and then take a steep traverse left to the south side of the ridge and contour round Pazolastock to eventually reach the summit from its south ridge. From here, if returning to Andermatt head back south along the ridge until it is possible to descend to the west. Keep skiing down until the pass is visible (P2049) and then traverse south west towards Andermatt. If continuing to Maighelshütte from the summit ski south east until you reach the good track that leads to the hut. This track will also take you back to Oberalppass. Follow the track to the river below Oberalppass, and then follow the road uphill, with about 200m of ascent to finish.
